Three years after the event, Oscar hand-wrote a 27-page testimonial of his experiences leading up to, and during, the Battle of Sugar Point.
Following the events at Sugar Point, Oscar received orders to go to Nome, Alaska, as part of the U.S. Military's operation to secure the town of Nome, Alaska, following the discovery of Gold in the area.
Hand-written in 1903 and send to a relative in Achern, Germany, Oscar describes in detail a skirmish in the Philippines during the Philippine–American War. The first four pages of the letter have been lost, but the remaining text has been transcribed and translated into English.
